How To Promote and Make Money With Your Podcast in the Next 30 Days with Michael Geoghegan of GigaVox Media and Tim Bourquin of PodcastBrothers.com
Michael Geoghegan of GigaVox Media and Tim Bourquin of PodcastBrothers.com presented this session at PodCamp NYC 2.0 on making money with your podcasts. PodcastAcademy.com is a site run by Geoghegan that you might want to take a look at if you are interested in starting a podcast.
Geoghegan recommends these sites to podcasters:
- iTunes (get your podcast found)
- Facebook, MySpace, Bebo (build a community around your podcast)
- Twitterfeed.com (let people know when you update)
- BlogTalkRadio (create a live event out of it to create urgency)
- Mogulus/UStream (real-time chatting and presentations)
- Amazon.com (when you review something, make your display name include your URL)
- One of the speakers, Tim Bourquin uses Tim Bourquin Host of TraderInterviews.com as his display name. He claims 12-15 visitors a day use that link even though the user has to physically write the URL in after they see it.
Geoghegan recommends doing your research and applying to podcast awards sites. In a case study shown for what DisneyLand did, he recommends hosting daily (or whatever your frequency) contests on your podcast, ensuring that the winners will listen for the results on the next podcast as well as interact via email to submit their answers.
