Shawne Burke Pecar

The Vice President, Consumer Marketing, PC World. A veteran circulation professional with two decades of experience, Shawne Burke Pecar joined PC World magazine as Circulation Director in 1994, and was promoted to Vice President of Circulation in 1996. She has grown PC World's circulation, making it the most-widely read computer magazine in the World - while garnering a premium newsstand price. In 2000, she was promoted to Vice President of Consumer Marketing and added to her responsibilities the marketing of PCWorld.com's audience and newsletters. In April 2002, she also started to manage the circulation activities for another IDG title, MACWorld. Since 2000 Pecar has been serving on the ABC Magazine Directors' Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the DMA Circulation Council Operating Committee. Pecar is a frequent speaker at industry conferences such as The Circulation Management Conference & Expo, FOLIO, DMA Circ Day, WFMA, and Circ Day LA.

The Publishing Director at Harvard Health Publications, the consumer health publishing division of the Harvard Medical School. Harvard Health Publications (HHP) publishes a wide range of authoritative health information, in a variety of formats. In addition to his management duties at Harvard Medical School, Mr. Coburn leads management training classes on dealing with difficult people, coaching for improved performance, retention, and managing effective teams. He is also an active member of the Harvard Medical School Staff Committee on Diversity. In the spring of 2003, Mr. Coburn co-chaired the consumer publishing track of the International Newsletter & Specialized Information Conference of the Newsletter and Electronic Publishers Association.
Heather is the Divisional President of the Business Information Group. For the past sixteen years, Heather has built and guided a variety of publishing units across multiple high-tech markets. In addition, she has lent her expertise to other areas of the business, including web development, customer service, fulfillment, and production. Currently, Heather runs 3 business units and leads a team of 80 employees who provide professional services and publish 18 newsletters, 3 databases and 8 websites covering many markets including Defense, Aviation, Telecom, Satellite, Media/PR , Electronic Gaming and Electronic Payments.
Stuart is the President and Founder of Ampere Media LLC. Ampere Media publishes 45 titles that deliver targeted content through e-mail, e-magazines and Web sites. The interactive lead generation division has created proprietary technology that is deployed on Ampere Media Web sites and more than 3,000 partner Web sites. The Direct Marketing Association's Marketing Technology & Internet Council awarded its first MTIC Award of Excellence to Stuart Hochwert on December 3, 2003, during the National Center For Database Marketing (NCDM) Conference & Exhibition at the Disney Dolphin in Orlando, FL.

One of the original architects of the Lighthouse Magazine Publishing Model, Greg Jones has worked with hundreds of magazines over the 20 years he has been in the publishing industry. He has been deeply involved with budget preparations, source development, and all other aspects of publishing for well-known magazines, and has worked on the complete planning, development, staffing, and launching of new publications. He has also served clients in both the purchase and sale of several magazine properties. Greg is a popular speaker at both private and industry functions. He has lectured as part of MPAs Professional Development Series and at the UC Berkeleys Graduate School of Journalism. He has also conducted intensive in-house training programs for several leading publishers, including Rodale Press, Asian Sources Media Group, and F&W Publications.

Stuart is COO of University Health Publishing, where he directs business operations for the newsletters and products of The University of California at Berkeley and John Hopkins Medical Institute. Stuart go his start in the publishing business at CBS magazines over 25 years ago and since that time has worked as a consultant to magazines both large and small including the New England Journal of Medicine, Martha Stewart Living and Reader's Digest, but those are just a few of the hundreds of publications he has launched or been invloved with. Additionally, Stuart was a founding partner of Lighthouse Communications Group; President and CEO of Circulation Specialists and Managing Partner of Database Resources. As the Internet took hold, Stuart transferred his experiences online.

Steve Sachs
Publisher, Real Simple
Steve Sachs was named Publisher of Real Simple in December of 2005. Sachs was formerly Vice President, Consumer Marketing for People, Teen People and People en Espanol, and before that was Vice President, Consumer Marketing for Real Simple, The Parenting Group, In Style and All You.
A veteran Time Inc. executive, Sachs was a member of Real Simple's launch team. Starting out as Consumer Marketing Director in 2000, Sachs was later promoted to Associate Publisher, Consumer Marketing & Development. Before Real Simple's launch, Sachs was the Marketing Director responsible for the Professional Marketing Group at Time magazine from 1997 to 2000. During his tenure, he led the launch of Time for Kids to the consumer/home market. From 1993 to 1997, Sachs held a number of positions at Time-Life Music, including Director of New Product Development, and oversaw the launch of 12 new music products.
Sachs was honored, along with Real Simple's earlier publisher and managing editor, in March 2003 with Adweek's first-ever "Executive Team of the Year" award. In April 2005, Folio: magazine named Sachs to its list of "40 Magazine Industry Innovators."
Prior to joining Time Inc., Sachs worked for the consumer banking division of Citibank, and served as a public policy analyst for the Urban Institute, a Washington D.C.-based think tank.
A native of Baltimore, MD, Sachs graduated with a B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and received an MBA from Stanford University. He currently resides in New York City with his wife, Michelle.
The Vice President of Research at Hitwise, Bill brings 10+ years of market research experience. Prior to joining Hitwise, Bill has led market research and strategy teams at LookSmart, Zaplet, NBC Internet and Pacific Bell Internet Services. Bill has also covered the Internet sector for Gartner Group as a senior technology marketplace consultant.
Bryan Welch holds a master's degree from Harvard University, and has worked in print media since 1976, gathering credits as a reporter, photographer, editor, general manager, and publisher of newspapers in Colorado, New Mexico, Washington and Connecticut. In 1996 he founded Ogden Publications, Inc., and soon afterward acquired Mother Earth News. His company now publishes nine magazines, including Herbs for Health, Farm Collector and Good Things to Eat..
Dawn Zier
Reader's Digest Association
Zier worked for a year as an electrical engineer with AT&T Bell Labs a marketing job in the credit card division of Chase Manhattan Bank in 1990. In 1992, she moved to Reader's Digest Association, as a product manager in the general books division. After a series of promotions leading up to marketing director, she made the switch into magazine circulation in August 1998, as marketing director, acquisition, for Reader's Digest. By February 2001, she was promoted to her current position: VP, circulation/marketing for Reader's Digest and all of RDA's special interest titles.
